Volastra

VOLASTRA, VICOS OLEASTER

The olive groves path

Outside traditional itineraries, there is the ancient town of Volastra, a small district above Manarola.
Located at 350 metres on a steep hill, Volastra takes its name from “Vicus oleaster“, since it is surrounded by a thick layout of terraces for the cultivation of vines and olive trees, that make this place suggestive and unique. You can view the Ligurian Riviera from a prime position and in clearer and fog-free days, if you look really carefully, you can see from faraway, the contour of the islands of Gorgona, Corsica, Elba and Capraia. A unique and different view from the usual image of Cinque Terre.

To show you all the wonders that are still to be discovered, in a territory as astonishing and charming as Eastern Liguria.

Before the town of Volastra, you can stop on the road for a pleasant break at the discovery of Cinque Terre Social Cellar to taste the typical sweet Sciacchetrà wine: a mix of tradition and flavour, result of dedication and work.
